For When You’re Struggling at the Beginning of Anything: Note to Self at my First Job

Currently at the steepest point of the learning curve, the beginning.

And I am starting to realize, this isn’t the most difficult part of the process, but it’s the part the requires the most patience.

This is the stage of the nitty-gritty and the obsession to the details, where every milestone is a huge deal, and every mistake a tragedy.

But in many ways, this is the easiest part. It’s the time in our path to learning that does not require much skill at all.

Everything is still to be learned, and we always start with the basics. When we first learn to play an instrument, for instance, the first step is always to know the parts of the instrument, the basic chords, individual notes, do re mi.

The basics always come first. This is the steepest part, the basic, simple, easy.

Now, all we need is patience.
